I have not taken enough time to consider as carefully as I would like to the two versions of the EUODS web site, but I really like the current one, perhaps because of its beautiful graphics. The use of the graphics here is not merely decorative but serves so well the purposes of leading readers and suggesting ideas in an educational material.
I will talk more about the site content concerning DS later, but for now, I cannot help admiring the graphics, especially the collages and the color scheme used to promote the topics in the web site. Each image is highly metaphoric and well created so that it stands out so vivid and sharp in the reader's eye while promising the readers the information they are going to get.
As it's so true from our experiences with publishing we find on the internet everyday, a good web site stands out not only because of its content but also its form. The graphics included in a site and the format of the information appearing on the screen decides how it attracts readers on the visual channel before they are absorbed into the content. The graphics and format of the current web site has fulfilled this function.

I agree that the new version of the DS site is visually more pleasing and presents itself professionally. It is a wealth of information and will indeed take us some time to work through it and properly evaluate all aspects of the new site vs. the old site.
